With front-woman Ellen Carey's dramatic songwriting at its core, "Fire and Blood" features the unearthly majesty of her vocals, with lush harmonies and accompaniment from guitar master, Steph Crase, Harriet Barbour-Fraser and Hamish Baird.
Ellen explains of the track; "Fire And Blood is written from the perspective of a woman who is deeply in love but in a relationship that has lost all passion. The woman screams out desperately in her mind and longs for her lover to brutalise her emotionally and physically to reignite the fire and to stop her feeling so hopelessly numb. She never tells her lover any of these desires however and silently suffers forevermore...
"I had the words for the chorus wandering around my head for some time and came up with a simple guitar melody to contrast the intense almost bdsm lyrical vibes. I came up with the verses afterwards to glue the story together. All my lyrics are extremely personal and meaningful, and this song has quite dangerous and secret lyrics that make sense only to me, so when I sing this live, I feel cathartic but also extremely menacing. It’s a fun song to perform live."
"Fire and Blood" follows on from "Coal" which was released in early 2018 as a split release with pals, MOD CON.
